AIREI’s hardest traceability capability is one bullet on page 3 of the mill brochure. Word for word:
“Supply chain traceability (linked via MyPalm Plantation and MyPalm Dealer with smallholder polygon maps)”
Three things are said there, and only one is about the mill. The origin record is assembled upstream, in the Plantation and Dealer products, and reaches the ramp already attached to the load. A polygon is a boundary, not a pin. And smallholder is the word that matters: a mapped estate is a solved problem, a mapped smallholder is not.
The Edge Malaysia, 25 May 2026 walked the same eight stations in the same order and printed a wider data room — “operations, maintenance, store, procurement finance, human resource and weighbridge data” — where the brochure names four. Both lists stand unmerged; the brochure’s is on the Smart Mill page.

Handover five
The weighbridge is where a load stops being a truck’s problem and becomes a number. Everything downstream inherits what it captured, mistakes included.

evidence each one leaves.
Traceability is not a screen. It is five moments where somebody hands something to somebody else — and either a record is made then, or it is rebuilt later from memory.
Handover two
A plot gets its latitude and longitude the day it is sown. Origin is minted at the start of the chain, not rebuilt at the end.
- Seed is received against a supplier and a batch, and verified by a second person before it is sown.
- A plot is created at sowing and carries its own latitude and longitude from that day — a coordinate, not a description.
- Seedlings leave as a numbered consignment, with a dispatch event and an arrival event, each carrying a time and a location.
- Harvest, workforce and field operations are appended against mapped block boundaries, timestamped and attributed to a named worker.
- A load reaches the ramp with a supplier, a category and an origin already attached, and the weighbridge captures grade and weight in the same transaction.

Where it starts
Most of a bunch’s history happens before anything digital touches it — at a roadside heap, on bare earth, loaded by hand.
What is written down,
and where it is written.
Whether your own intake is covered by these fields is a question about your suppliers, and a site assessment is what answers it.
The supplier categories are the ones a Malaysian mill already uses — private estate, government estate or scheme, dealer, smallholder — so the data matches the shape of the trade rather than a European importer’s idea of it.

A physical tag, not just a row
Each plot carries an NFC label. Tapping it with the app opens that plot’s record and lets a worker read and update it on the spot — capture happens in a field, not on an office dashboard.

Every event is double-signed
Activities carry a verifier and an inspector as separate steps, and the reports print both columns — the difference between a log and evidence.

The identity survives the handoff
A consignment leaving the nursery and arriving at the estate is one object under one number, with a dispatch event and an arrival event. Most chains lose the thread precisely here.

The statutory returns are already in the product
The Dealer product carries the MPOB daily purchase and sales records and the monthly return as built-in reports, in Bahasa Malaysia. That is not a traceability feature. It is why the data stays accurate — and accurate data is what makes traceability survive a real ramp.

Where a boundary comes from
A polygon is not a pin. Somebody walks the block, and the app carries the result into every record downstream.
Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 puts the duty on whoever places palm oil on the EU market. They must hold the location of every plot a consignment came from, and describe any plot over four hectares as a boundary, not a single point. That duty sits on your supply base, not on a piece of software.
What the system does is narrower and checkable: it records plot boundaries and plot coordinates and carries them through the handovers above to the ramp. Ask to see a plot record, a consignment timeline and a supplier map, and judge whether that evidence fits what your compliance officer is being asked for.
Three questions we will not answer for you: whether your intake is fully mapped, whether this record satisfies a particular obligation, and whether it survives a named auditor on a named day. All three turn on your suppliers and your legal advice, not on a vendor.
The date the regulation starts to apply has moved more than once. Ask, and you get the current date in writing, with the instrument that set it.
